The Drakeriders of the North | Events of the Ages

The northernmost region of the world is kept under a permanent shroud of storms, a meteorological consequence left in the wake of the World Kiln's prodigious work. As such, this land is home only to those hardy or desperate enough to brave the fury of this land, with pirates, barbarians and outcasts forming the bulk. Among these dregs, a handful of groups stand out more than most: one such group is an enforcer clan known as the Dark Dragons. They have not always gone by this name, for once they were merely another band of raiders like the rest, but it was a certain, dangerous ambition which would begin their rise to infamy.

The iron empires are not strangers to the scourge of the monstrosities machina, but their reinforced, high-walled cities and factory complexes are as much of a deterrent for aggressive beasts as they are for rival factions. However, for those outside of the walls, the threat of the monsters is a permanent consideration. In addition to the possibility of stumbling across occassional strays, from time to time great hordes will sweep across the wastes between the cities and leave only devastation for any lesser settlements caught in their path, and it was one of these hordes that plays the second part in this tale.

Everyone has a different story of how things began. Was it a desire for power? A desperate attempt to avoid destruction? Or was it simply just "wouldn't it be cool to ride a dragon?"
