Salvage | Directives of the Tower III

The sky-galleon descended silently through the cloak of night. Invisibly, in the dark, the gravity sails atop its deck relaxed into a flat sheet as their buoyant force lessened. As it drew close towards the ground, a stabbing light shot out from a point towards the prow and swivelled from place to place as an observer began picking out points on the debris-strewn ground.
As the ship touched down, three smaller dots of brightness emerged, and then dropped a few feet from a ramp that had opened out on the port side, stopping their fall at about head height. The bobbing lights became identifiable as individuals as the moved away from their landing point and split up to survey the imminent surroundings. In the collective illumination scattered from their head-mounted torches, the shapes of implements they were holding could just about be made out from the gloom. Without clearer sight, this equipment could have been mistaken for some other, more vicious, purpose, but these tools were intended for the intents of construction and deconstruction.
The front figure placed a hand to one side of their helmet as they received a communication from the ship, in an effort to blot out the crunch of boots and the humming power supply attached behind the exo-suit's shoulders. He spoke up as it finished, his voice flattened to robotic tones by the mouthpiece.
"Sounds like the front entrance is buried. We'll have to dig our way in from the side."
The second member of the group shifted their grip on the tool they carried, a two-handed drill that was at least half their height, though not as wide, as if already tiring from its weight. "Great. You do remember what they said this thing was built out of?"
"Our job here is the same regardless. Get moving, if you want it to be over faster."
The third at the back checked a device clasped around their forearm, as they waited for the other two to finish.
"I'm getting a lot of dangerous readings coming from the right side of the complex. We should stay as far from it as we can."
"We'll go in there if we have to. Don't forget who hired us for this task." Came the ungrateful reply. Unfortunate as it was though, their leader was right: get this mission over with and they would be set, fail and... well... best to avoid messing it up.
